Google Drive を使ったテープ起こしのやり方 (How to transcribe)

This post is for the reference of people who are assisting with the transcription of files from an international conference on fair trade. この投稿は、フェアトレードに関する国際会議のテープ起こしを手伝っている人のために書いています。 

STEP 1: Get invitation (招待のメールを頼む)

If you write to me at masden@kumagaku.ac.jp and tell me that you would like to help with the transcription process (either in English or Japanese or both) I will send you the following type of invitation. テープ起こしに協力してくださる方がメール（アドレスはmasden@kumgaku.ac.jp）で、英語または日本語のテープ起こしに協力する意志を伝えてくだされば、次のような招待メールをお送りします。

STEP 2: Open the folder in Google Drive (Driveの中のフォルダーを開く)

Click on the link in the email (in the image above, the link is "Full Conference 3").

メールの中のリンク（上の画像ではFull Conference 3）をクリックしてください。

STEP 3: Open the transcription document (テープ起こしの文章を開ける)

After clicking on the link, you should see one of the following two kinds of images.  クリックをすれば、次のような画面のいずれかが表示されるでしょう。

To begin, click on the document containing the text (in this case "Full Conference 3"). まず、テキストを入力するためのドキュメント（この例ではFull Conference 3という名のファイル）をクリックしてください。Clicking on the file should take you to the following screen.  ファイルをクリックすれば、次のような画面が表示されるはずです。

Click on "Open" toward the top of the document.  ドキュメントの上の方に見えるOpenをクリックしてください。This should case the document to be opened in a new tab. こうすれば、新しいタブでファイルが開かれるはずです。

STEP 4: Open video or audio file (ビデオまたは音声ファイルを開く)

You should have two tabs open now.  現時点で二つのタブが開いているはずです。

Click on the first tab and look down to the lower left-hand part of the screen to see the following.  最初のタブをクリックして、スクリーンの右下の部分に次のようなものが見えるはずです。

Click on it and choose the video (or audio).  クリックしてビデオ（または音声）を選んでください。

Now we are finally ready to start transcribing.  いよいよテープ起こし作業をストートできます。

STEP 5: Find a place to work on (テープ起こしをするところを見つける)

If you are the first person to begin the transcription process, please start at the beginning of the file.  まだ手つかずの状態なら最初からテープ起こしをすると良いでしょう。If, however, you are going to transcribe the English but the file begins with Japanese, you will have to find the beginning of the English.  しかし、日本語のテープ起こしの作業をする場合は、最初に英語があるなら日本語が始まるところを見つけないといけません。Of, if other people are already working on the file, you will need to find where they have left off.  また、他の人が既に作業を始めている場合には作業が中断されたところを見つける必要があります。This should be easy if the people who have been working on the file already have marked the point in the video or audio at which they stopped transcribing.  前に作業をしていた人が、作業を中断したところをメモっていれば、これは簡単でしょう。

In the following example,  the transcription of the English was stopped at 0:32, so the next person should pick up the work there.  次の例では、英語のテープ起こしは 0:32で中断されたことになっていますので、次の人はそこから始めれば良いでしょう。

When you finish transcribing a short section, be sure to note the point in the file (how many minutes and seconds into the file) in the document.  一段落程度のテープ起こしが終わったら、ファイルのどこ（何分何秒）で終わったかをメモってください。

For example, if this is the point at which you finish transcribing, you would type "3:55" into the text for the text person.  例えば、ここでテープ起こしが一段したのであれば、次の人のために"3:55"を入力しておくと良いでしょう。

You may find it easier to transcribe if you download the video or audio.  ビデオまだはオーディオをダウンロードすれば、テープ起こしがもう少し楽にできるかもしれません。When you are looking at the video, for example, you should be able to see the following download arrow above the video.  ビデオが表示されている画面を見ているときには、ビデオの上に次のようなダウンロード用の矢印が見えるはずです。

Click on the link to download the file and then open it with the video (or audio) player of your choice.  リンクをクリックしてファイルをダウンロードしてから、お好みのビデオ（または音声）再生ソフトで再生できます。If you do not have an appropriate application, I recommend VLC.  適切なアプリがない場合はVLCをお勧めします。
